this weekend was the ARTS FESTIVAL at First Baptist Church downtown.. it was their first annual one and the theme was Psalms 23... i entered four pieces
it went really well... it was a jurrored event, one of the jurrors was from Cheekwood Museum here in Nashville. I won one of the 4 purchase awards for my painting of Rahab

i really loved this piece. it is sad a little bit to say goodbye to it forever. she has sat with me while i worked for the past 8 months or so... but im happy that it won an award and i parted with it on terms i was delighted about :)
and a little suprise for me today... one of my other pieces sold! Jochabed- who i never expected to part with. it was such a personal piece i figured no one would ever want it... haha... but this really nice couple from the church loved it and i told them the story behind the image today when i met them

they said they were going to hang it over their fireplace! what an honorable spot :) i am so excited that someone loved this piece and felt emotional about it the way i did. she is going to a good home. this piece was on paper and my dad built me a panel just the right size so i mounted it.
i did a new painting for the show too- another piece honoring the adulterous woman from the new testament who was almost stoned. this is really the only big painting that i have done since graduation that i consider part of my "body of work"

the way i tied my pieces into a psalms 23 theme was that i made the psalms verse the womans prayer and then put the excerpt from the passage about the woman after that. so this piece was titled:
though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death, i will fear no evil... and when the acusers heard this, they dropped the stones and walked away one by one
